When I began painting again and experimenting with cold wax and a looser, more abstract style, this was the painting where it all came together for me. A eureka moment, if you will. I had been thinking about storms while I was painting it, and wanted to choose titles in my work that had double meanings and significance to our life experiences, so I titled it thinking about the parallels between trials and storms. Ironically, looking back now, I can see how my own clouds of self-doubt were lifting—wondering if I could really be a “good” mother AND an artist (almost a silly thought now)—and the peace that I felt that I had these strong feelings to pursue art again for a good reason.
